
More About Sean Newlin
Sean obtained his Bachelor of Science in Air Quality from the University of Northern Iowa in 2010. He worked for two years in the oil and gas industry in Anchorage, Alaska as an air quality specialist for AECOM where he was responsible for quarterly and annual environmental compliance reporting and the maintenance and testing of key air monitoring equipment. He returned to Iowa in 2012 to work as an environmental scientist with Stanley Consultants in Coralville, IA where he worked on a variety of air, water and waste permitting and compliance projects. Sean moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 2015 to work for SCS Engineers as a project scientist focused on landfill gas.

In August 2016, Sean started on his Master of Public Policy degree at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California Berkeley. He has focused his studies on policies around climate change mitigation and adaptation. In the summer of 2017, Sean worked at the Port of Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland as an Environmental Defense Fund Climate Corps fellow, compiling and assessing options to reduce diesel particulate emissions at the Port.
Throughout his time at Berkeley, Sean has worked with the Center for Environmental Public Policy on air quality issues in the Bay Area, especially issues affecting low-income and disadvantaged communities. Most recently, Sean has begun work as a contracted policy consultant with Amnesty International working on the issue of human rights abuses experienced by displaced persons due to climate change and weather disasters.
